Monday Motivational Moment (MMM3)

I initially had thought that this piece will motivate one alone. It was not until I read it again in Ben Carson’s “Think Big” that I know that it is also a wise saying.

Today on MMM, I wish to share with you the commonest of all mottos used in schools. So common is this motto that you can’t go to any state in Nigeria without finding a school with this motto. I even saw it as university motto in recent times

The motto is : “Knowledge is power”.This is indeed a simple but very meaningful sentence. Infact it is enough to motivate one to seek knowledge. A man with physical strength is powerful, a man with emotional strength is more powerful but a man with knowledge is the most powerful of them all.

How powerful is knowledge? Knowledge is likened to a key to a lock. If one has the strength alone, can one open a locked door without breaking it? If one has the key but does not know how to use it, can one open the door? Do doors…

Time….It waits for no one.

Imagine there is a bank that credits your account each morning with $86,400. It carries over no balance from day to day. Every evening deletes whatever part of  the balance you failed to use during the day.
What would you do? Draw out every cent, of course!!!! Each of us has such a bank. Its name is TIME.

Every morning, it credits you with 86,400 seconds. Every night it writes off, as lost, whatever of this you have failed to invest to good purpose. It carries over no balance. It allows no overdraft. Each day it opens a new account for you. Each night it burns the remains of the day. If you fail to use the day’s deposits, the loss is yours.
There is no going back. There is no drawing against the “tomorrow”. You must live in the present on today’s deposits. Invest it so as to get from it the utmost in health, happiness, and success!

The clock is running. Make the most of today.
To realize the value of ONE YEAR, ask a student who failed in SSCE Exam.

To realize the value of ONE MONTH, ask a mother who gave birth to a premature baby.

To realize the value of ONE WEEK, ask the editor of a weekly newspaper. .

To realize the value of ONE HOUR, ask the lovers who are waiting to meet.

To realize the value of ONE MINUTE, ask a person who missed the train.

To realize the value of ONE SECOND, ask a person who just avoided an accident.

To realize the value of ONE MILLISECOND, ask the person who won a silver medal in the Olympics
Treasure every moment that you have!

And treasure it more because you spent it doing things you love and shared it with someone special, special enough to spend your time.
And remember that time waits for no one.

Been a while followers of my blog… Really sorry of my inactivity. Thank God I am back anyway.. So how has been your academics? I hope it has been Great..Well, this post is for secondary and primary school students who are most likely either starting examinations today or preparing very soon for their examinations. I want to share with you good tips for your success in any examination.

  1. Although, you should have been preparing for the examinations since like three weeks ago, a night before every examinations is the best time for revision . Go over your notes once more, try and recap what you have read and make sure you write them down. Findings show that you tend to remember things that you wrote out off hand because you know them . The best time to do this is before you sleep at the hour of 10 00 pm.

The Law of Attraction- it works a lot.

It has been a long time since I came across this law on the pages of a book. I have actually forgotten the title of the book but I can’t possibly forget it’s content. I have also seen it on video in one documentary entitled “The secret”.

I have no doubt of the authenticity of that law just that I have not seen it worked the way it worked last night. So I was hanging out with a friend in a bar last night discussing about Life in general. We were sharing ideas, events, plans and all of that.

But something was missing, there were no drinks on the table. There had to be. The only problem was that this was not part of the week’s budget. So how do I put in this on an already thinning resources? All these were bothering on my mind as I discussed with my friend. I was deciding for and against buying a drink.

Just when I was about making a decision to buy, I received a beckon from the table opposite me. The man who beckoned at me had a business proposal for me. He probably have heard about what I do from his girlfriend just beside him. We talked small on what he wanted and exchanged contacts. As a way of starting what was to be a relationship, he offered to get a drink for my friend and I, Just what I have wanted and attracted! It was not until then that I remembered the law of attraction.

It had worked just the way the book and video said it would! I strongly believe that “As a man thinketh, so he is!”

How can you benefit from this revelation? It is really simple. Just what do you want out of your education? Get the answer to that question. Visualize yourself getting that which you so much want from your education. Set concrete plans to get that and make a resolve not to back off until you reach your destination. It is that simple. Do this and you can attract and achieve almost anything with your education!

What do you think?

What do you think of these words of wisdom ? Does this relate to another idea of education being the best gift a parent can give his or her children? How should knowing this affect your view of education? Can this be a food for thought to those who reason that educating oneself is a waste of time ?

Please do well to share what you think of this week’s Wednesday word of wisdom.

Pie Day

Tomorrow is March 14. Tomorrow is Pie’s day. I heard there is one competition where people recite the pie value to as long in decimal places as possible.

To how many decimal places can you try and know the pie value? I personally know it to the 35th decimal place.

Think I am joking? It is possible. People know it longer, you too can,If you put your mind to it.

Here is a challenge friend. Here is the pie value in coloured format:

You can know it. As l learnt in one book I am reading, I can do whatever I set my mind to do.

Motivate yourself.

Yeah yeah… Part of the things I suggest students do over the weekend is to see a movie. Trivial as that seems, it really is a great opportunity to learn new things. Did I just typed just “new things” ? No, I actually intended to type “great new things”.

I once read somewhere that films are interpretations of what happens in reality in places. True, no wonder we have a good idea of the western culture without actually ever stepping on any western country. Films are indeed eye openers.

I am seeing a movie presently titled ” Dope “. Here is the cover:

Although as I am typing I am not yet through with it, on the very first interface of the movie I learnt the different usage of the word, dope.

Here is the screenshot of the interface:

P.S : Which film have you seen this weekend? If no, try and see one. And don’t forget to learn something new.

Eating of fried food on paper leads to low IQ in children.

Are you in the habit of eating suya, akara (bean cake) and other fried and roasted foods wrapped in printed paper? Experts have warned that such foods are inimical to health because chemicals in the printed paper include lead, a toxic substance that has been linked to the development of low IQ and a host of other dangerous diseases.

Dr Ishiaq Omostosho, a specialist advisor to University College Hospital, Ibadan on toxicology, stated that lead often leaches into food items, especially the fried ones, when it is used as a food wrapper.
He therefore advised that if we are to consume fried food, they should be better served on plates. He is said that is far better than paper serving.

A word they say is enough for the wise.
