On the 20th of January 2012, I witness firsthand the horror of terrorism being perpetuated by boko haram. I lost two friends in this attack by boko haram, was almost killed myself. They justified the killing of my two friends with the statement that they were Christians who preached western values and as such they are not wanted in Kano state. I grieved over their death for several months because I felt that they did not deserve to die. Upon hearing the abduction of the 276 Chibok school girls and Shekau statement after the kidnap :”slavery is allowed in my religion, Allah instructed me to sell them and I will carry out his instruction “,it sent a chill down my spine and I couldn’t help but empathize with the parents of those girls.
Voltaire once said” those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities”. I guess he is right because that is the only justifiable reason I can get for the abduction, killings and other inhumane activities being perpetuated by boko haram. I can’t fathom any joy or gain there is in causing pain to other people, depriving them of basic necessities of life because they don’t adhere to your believes. Yet desperate but powerless after 3 years, still relying on a miracle this Chibok girls and their family deserve better. The young girls studying hard at school before their mass kidnapping has now become a symbol of our apparent weakness to protect the young lives.
Tragically, news about the girls of Chibok has now become like hearsay or some farfetched theory and the harsh reality is that the girls, most with dreams of a university degree and careers, has vanished from the face of the earth as the world patiently waits. The treatment of the Chibok girls is among one of the worst horrors inflicted daily on children in conflict zones in a rising number of civil wars which are now at its highest level in 40years. It’s been three whole years and still their parents wake up each morning not knowing whether their daughters are alive or dead, married or single or violated as slaves. They surely deserve more than a forlorn of hope.
The government has done quite a lot within these 3years of the girls’ abduction, coupled with the rescue rehabilitation and reintegration of 80 out of 276 Chibok girls that are in boko haram captivity, but the government needs to do more to rescue the remaining girls still in captivity and president Muhammad Buhari needs to keep his promise as stated during his inauguration “The nation cannot claim to have defeated boko haram without rescuing the Chibok girls and all other innocent persons held hostage by the insurgent. The government will do all it can to rescue them alive”. We the citizens need to do more to pressurize the government to act and also pass the violence against persons prohibition bill (VAAP) that ensure the prosecution of those responsible for sexual violence once captured.

I am personally not a fan of reality TV shows but I know a couple of them by name, Gulder Ultimate Search, Nigeria Idol, Big Brother Niger e.t.c. Please is there a show known as Nigeria Got Talents? Forgive my ignorance, I am just not into all these shows.
I did not really know that Big Brother Niger was ongoing not until last weekend when I started to hear pararazi stories about it’s grand finale. Then it ended and a participant known as Efe won based on logistics. The reward? 25 million Naira and a SUV car. Quite a juicy reward! I don’t know the rewards of other entertainment shows but I do know that they are all heavy ones. These rewards serve to glorify and gratify entertainment. Good ones for the investors in these show. Nice one.
But the Sad thing is that partakers in Competitions related to educational and academic performances do not enjoy this kind of rewards. All we hear is in the thousands range. Is it that education is not important as entertainment? Or is that it is easier to succeed in education than it is in entertainment ? Could it be that investors do not gain as much in education as they do in entertainment? All these questions beg answers and I will be glad to hear them.
Regardless of the answers to those questions, I am of the opinion that performers in the academic world deserve good rewards too. The famous Ben Carson feel these way too. It was part of his book ” Think Big “. Let us glorify education too! Let us gratify it too!
So I was coming back from one of my trips last week. When we got to airport area, we were alarmed to see a young man lying on the floor lifeless with blood beginning to clot on his ear area. No body could really touch his remains. It was while showing fellow human feelings that we got to know that he had just been a victim of a Cultist HIT. It was saddening. He was a young man probably about to start his life in a way. Killed just like that in broad daylight.
This brings me to our words of wisdom for the day. It read
” He that is walking with the wise one will become wise but he that is walking with stupid ones will fare badly”
How sad that those killed recently fared so badly that they lost their lives, they lost a future, dreams and a lot other things!
Cultism is really not a good thing, say NO to it and say YES to life.
Sometimes you get a little rusty, a little tired, a little down in spirit, a little busy and probably a little low on motivation. At those times, you might feel like giving up! Have you ever been there? Yes i have been there. Infact i am just coming from there.
The big question is that: when you encounter such difficulties, what should you do ? Should you bulge and run? Should you quit? No you should not! Quitters don’t win and winners also do not quit. Quitting should be far from your mind.
Instead focus all your time and resources on resting. Yes rest! While on a sabatical, take your time to think on how you can get your mojo back. Reason on any other detour you can take. Do not just change the destination.
Getting your mojo back might take some time. Dont be in a hurry. Take your time. In time, you will get it back. I have gotten my mojo back. Now we are very much available to give you the best content on education and motivation.
I initially had thought that this piece will motivate one alone. It was not until I read it again in Ben Carson’s “Think Big” that I know that it is also a wise saying.
Today on MMM, I wish to share with you the commonest of all mottos used in schools. So common is this motto that you can’t go to any state in Nigeria without finding a school with this motto. I even saw it as university motto in recent times
The motto is : “Knowledge is power”.This is indeed a simple but very meaningful sentence. Infact it is enough to motivate one to seek knowledge. A man with physical strength is powerful, a man with emotional strength is more powerful but a man with knowledge is the most powerful of them all.
How powerful is knowledge? Knowledge is likened to a key to a lock. If one has the strength alone, can one open a locked door without breaking it? If one has the key but does not know how to use it, can one open the door? Do doors…

Imagine there is a bank that credits your account each morning with $86,400. It carries over no balance from day to day. Every evening deletes whatever part of the balance you failed to use during the day.
What would you do? Draw out every cent, of course!!!! Each of us has such a bank. Its name is TIME.
Every morning, it credits you with 86,400 seconds. Every night it writes off, as lost, whatever of this you have failed to invest to good purpose. It carries over no balance. It allows no overdraft. Each day it opens a new account for you. Each night it burns the remains of the day. If you fail to use the day’s deposits, the loss is yours.
There is no going back. There is no drawing against the “tomorrow”. You must live in the present on today’s deposits. Invest it so as to get from it the utmost in health, happiness, and success!
To realize the value of ONE MONTH, ask a mother who gave birth to a premature baby.

To realize the value of ONE HOUR, ask the lovers who are waiting to meet.
To realize the value of ONE MINUTE, ask a person who missed the train.

Treasure every moment that you have!
And treasure it more because you spent it doing things you love and shared it with someone special, special enough to spend your time.

- Although, you should have been preparing for the examinations since like three weeks ago, a night before every examinations is the best time for revision . Go over your notes once more, try and recap what you have read and make sure you write them down. Findings show that you tend to remember things that you wrote out off hand because you know them . The best time to do this is before you sleep at the hour of 10 00 pm.
